Session: Cancer research and therapy

Cancer research and therapy

Cancer research encompasses everything from epidemiology to molecular biology to the conduct of clinical studies to assess and compare the efficacy of various cancer treatments. Surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, hormone therapy, immunotherapy, and combined treatment methods such as chemo-radiotherapy are examples of these applications. Beginning in the mid-1990s, clinical cancer research changed its focus to biotechnology-derived medicines, such as cancer immunotherapy and gene therapy.
